Church rota
A new Church rota is being compiled for June-August. Please could you let Fiona Austin know dates when you are not available to go on the rota by 17 May. If you would like to join the rota to welcome people, read or say prayers do please speak to the Rector, we need more volunteers. Please use this email rota@stbarnabasbromborough.org
Planned Giving
This is a simple invitation to everyone to review how you give as part of belonging to St Barnabas:
• If you already give, have you reviewed your amount recently? Inflation (3.8% last year) means that maintaining the same gift can gradually reduce its value. If you are able, even a small increase helps.
• If you give occasionally, would you consider setting up a monthly or weekly standing order? Regular giving helps us plan and sustain our ministry. Forms are available at the back of church.
• If you pay tax, please consider completing a Gift Aid form so we can claim additional income on your donation at no extra cost to you.Giving is a gospel centred principal and a part of our discipleship.
Good News! Gloria is feeling much better, taking things easy at home. No dancing on the table yet!
Mothers’ Union News
In a recent letter I told you about the Provincial time capsule marking 150 years of Mothers’ Union. I have always associated our Founder Mary Sumner with Alresford in Hampshire but was fascinated to find out that she was actually born in Swinton near Manchester where my parents were brought up and I would have been but for WW2. She moved to Alresford in 1849 when her husband George was appointed Rector, they were married on 26 July 1848, I was married on the same date 121 years later! Next week I will write about MU’s Literacy project and the tremendous results it has especially in Africa.

Flower Vases
Following our trial using vases for the window sills for our Easter flowers, we would like to continue with this for festival flowers. To that end, if anyone has any glass vases that they are willing to donate to the church we would be very grateful. They can be left at the back of the church or given to me on Sundays and I will put them away. Many thanks, Gill Walker
Ark Corner
There are still quite a few empty spaces on the rota for the Ark corner. Whilst we are not welcoming very many children into church on Sundays at the moment, it would still be useful to have someone available for the corner in case it should suddenly become popular!! Gill Walker

Frustrated that you keep hearing St Barnabas groups making a noise in WhatsApp?
To stop a WhatsApp group making a noise (Community groups)
- Open WhatsApp
- At the bottom, tap Communities (icon of a group of people)
- Tap St Barnabas Community
- Tap the group name you want (e.g. “General” or “Parish Prayers”)
- That group will open. At the very top, tap that same group name again
- You will see Group info. Scroll down and Tap the line that says ‘Notifications’
- Tap Mute Notifications
- You can then choose 8 hours, 1 week, Always. You will still be able to look and see new messages but there will be no noise.
WhatsApp is great but I am in 22 parish groups and would go crazy without the mute facility. If you need help, please ask. Jenny
Postcard Exhibition
For the summer fair, we are organising a postcard exhibition as a fundraiser. We will be inviting anyone and everyone to submit postcard size pieces of art. They will then be exhibited in and around Church on the day of the summer fair and made available for sale. Some of the pictures will form part of a local community calendar we plan to create. It would be helpful to have a few volunteers to help with the organisation. If you would like to get involved, please either speak to Heather Savage or email crafts@stbarnabasbromborough.org There is now also a WhatsApp group in our community that you can join. Heather
Singing in the centre
Joan Astill and a small group meet on the first and third Thursdays in order to sing together. Sadly the group is shrinking. They would love to have some new members. If you can come they will welcome you. You do not have to be tuneful, just enthusiastic!!
Envelopes
Over the next few weeks there will be some envelopes for various people starting to be left. Please will you check to see if there is one with your name on. Just a bit of administration to be completed. Heather
