Notices
Today we welcome the family and friends of Eloise Catherine Hulse for Holy Baptism at 12.15 pm
Thank you
There has been a lot of very busy people recently and I am grateful to each and every one of you. As ever, the Churchwardens, Thelma, Ian and Ian have put in long shifts making things happen as has Gill and many others of you. It IS noticed and appreciated. Jenny – Rector.
Easter Saturday flowers
Thank you to those who came last Saturday to help decorate the church. It was much appreciated!
Gill
APCM
The APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting) will take place on Sunday 19th April immediately after the 11.00 am service. What is it? It is a meeting that anyone can attend though only those on the electoral roll can attend. At this meeting we elect wardens and PCC reps and this year, Deanery Synod reps. We also receive the Annual report which is both an information giving and part of a legal process. We affirm our Safeguarding procedures and hear about the general repair of the building.
How can I prepare? The Annual report will be available from this weekend. Do read it. Pray for a treasurer and a new Churchwarden.
Churchwarden, PCC Secretary and Deanery Synod Reps
We require:
3 PCC members for 3 years, 1 PCC member for 2 years and 1 PCC member for 1 year. We also require 2 deanery synod reps. If an existing PCC member becomes a deanery synod rep, then that will create another 1 or 2 PCC vacancies. We need a Churchwarden. If that person is already on the PCC it will give another PCC vacancy. We need a secretary. This does not impact the PCC numbers. We need 7 or 8 people to serve on top of those who already do so.
Job descriptions
Interested in talking one of the roles that we need covering following the APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting)? The best thing to do is chat to someone who has been doing the job – more than one if possible. Job descriptions can also be found at the back of church or if you contact me I will email you with whatever you need. Thanks Jenny
Living our Values
Have you received a leaflet or read it online? Can you spot the posters around and about? Having these values is all very well but we need to know them so we can live by them and encourage others to do likewise.
Ark Corner
There are still quite a few empty spaces on the rota for the Ark corner. Whilst we are not welcoming very many children into church on Sundays at the moment, it would still be useful to have someone available for the corner in case it should suddenly become popular! Gill
Tom Quinlan’s memorial Service
Friday 17th April at 1.00 pm and afterwards in The Centre for a cup of tea and chat.
All welcome. No black please.
Big Breakfast from
9.30 am Saturday 16th May in the Centre

Only £5.00
All humans welcome – dogs may attend but no guarantee of filling them. No excuses – “A squirrel took it.” “Oh I lost my money – must have fallen out of my collar.” Or “Mum will pay.”
Question: In what month do dogs bark the least?
Answer: February – it’s the shortest month! Sorry……
Church Tours, Churchyard Tour, Village History Tour
In conjunction with the Big Breakfast on May 16, If anyone would like to take part and depending on the weather I will lead one or more of the following local history tours, starting at 10.30 am a) Village History walk – this is a short walk, all on paved footpaths b) a Churchyard tour featuring some of the most notable graves and other items in the Churchyard, c) a Church History tour. Which one happens will depend on the people joining the tour would like on the day. There will be no charge but donations towards Mothers’ Union projects will be very welcome. Jenny Hope
Mothers’ Union https://www.mothersunion.org
In future, meetings will be on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 2.00 pm. Anyone can be a MU member men and women, married or single, with children or not as long as they uphold the values of Christian family life.
Postcard Exhibition
For the summer fair, we are organising a postcard exhibition as a fundraiser. We will be inviting anyone and everyone to submit postcard size pieces of art. They will then be exhibited in and around Church on the day of the summer fair and made available for sale. Some of the pictures will form part of a local community calendar we plan to create. It would be helpful to have a few volunteers to help with the organisation. If you would like to get involved, please either speak to Heather Savage or email crafts@stbarnabasbromborough.org
Friday Chat
A quick reminder that on a Friday morning a group of us meet in the Village Centre between 9:30 and 12:00 and chat. Some of us also do some craft – but many don’t. If you’re at a loose end and would like a bit of company then please come and join us. Several stay afterwards for the ‘pay as you feel’ soup which is always delicious. Hope to see you soon!
Envelopes
Over the next few weeks there will be some envelopes for various people starting to be left. Please will you check to see if there is one with your name on. Just a bit of administration to be completed.
Mission Partners
As a Church we have pledged to contribute financial support to our Mission Partners. There are some pens and small brown envelopes next to the Tap2Give machine in Church. Please write ‘Mission Partners’ on the envelope for us to know that is where you want your donation to go. If you want to send a donation digitally, then either transfer the money to the Church bank account and reference it CMS and your name, or use the Tap2Give Machine and email treasurer@stbarnabasbromborough.org to let Heather know that’s where you want it to go. Thank you!
Planned Giving
Thanks to everyone for your generous donations which help ensure that we can keep our Church Family home, St Barnabas Church, and its work going on. Without everyone contributing, this won’t happen, so please know how important your contribution is. If you have received a recent increase in your income, perhaps you could consider increasing your donation or starting to donate, if you can afford it. Every little really does help. Gift Aid is also an important way of us being able to claim back some of the tax that you have already paid. If you are a taxpayer, please do complete a Gift Aid form, (copies at the back of Church). If you haven’t completed one in the last couple of years or can’t remember if you have, then please complete one and either give it to the Treasurer, Heather Savage or the Rector. If you’re not able to attend Church at the moment and want a form emailing to you, or have any questions, please email treasurer@stbarnabasbromborough.org Duplicate forms are much better than no form at all. THANK YOU!
WHO?
If you’re not sure who some of the people mentioned in this newsletter are, or how to contact them, then please look at the photos at the back of Church or here on the website. We’re a friendly bunch, so do get in touch!
