A change of name
Coffee, chat & craft has changed its name to Friday Chat. It will meet in the Centre each Friday 9.30 am till 12 noon. Everyone is invited to come along, have a hot drink, and if chat and craft is your thing you can do that too. Why not then stay and join in ‘Pay what you can’ soup lunch.

Church Opening
We have a rota of people who are opening the church in the morning and closing in the evening Monday – Friday. Our thanks to them. If you come across the church open on a weekday, please leave it that way. If you are counting and arrive to find church closed, you may find it open by the time you leave. Counters may of course wish to have the door closed while you are doing that. Please do leave it open after you have finished. If you have any questions or concerns please call into the centre and speak to the team leader. If the centre is closed phone 01513344155 or 07806608219. If there is an emergency and you consider it necessary to dial 999 please do that first and only then call us. Thank you, Jenny (Rector)

WANTED – A new PCC secretary
Fiona has let me know that she will be standing down from the role of PCC secretary at the end of this year. That year will end at the APCM in April. Fiona has undertaken this role for the past 8 years so with new commitments in her personal life I think it is time to allow her to move away from this. There will be time for saying thank you in due course but for now we need to find someone else who can work alongside Fiona to complete the tasks at the end of the year. If you feel God is calling you (which is not necessarily the same as wanting to do it) please come and speak to me or to Fiona.

A note for everyone re Wirral South Deanery Synod
Wednesday 11 February at 7.30pm at Neston Parish Church.
The meeting is an open meeting on the C of E initiative “Everyday Faith” with panellists from churches in the deaneries of Wirral South and Frodsham. “Come and listen to and join in the conversation of how small shifts in our daily habits impact the people we meet each day, in the places where God places us throughout the week, outside of our church walls.” This MAY be staring our very own Jenny Hope.

Dipping the wafer in the wine at Holy Communion
This notice applies to very few people but nevertheless it is important. The Church of England has, for longer than I have been in the parish, asked people NOT to dip the wafer into the wine. I appreciate that for some of you it has been your tradition but it is less hygienic and more of a threat to others than sipping from one cup. That’s because silver and the wine’s alcohol does a fantastic job of ensuring that we stay healthy. Aside from any infection risk, and probably even more important is that, if you dip gluten into the wine, it is then contaminated for our gluten free members. The 39 Articles of Religion make it quite clear that communion in one kind (ie just the bread or just the wine) is still full communion. You don’t get less of the Holy Spirit if you take one than if you take both. Please let us look after each other in this. None of the chalice assistants want to embarrass you by stopping you at the point of communion – it would help therefore if you make the choice not to dip yourself and slip past if you don’t wish to drink from the common cup. If you want to chat to me about how this impacts you, please do. – Jenny (Rector)
