News from Limassol
Edna writes:
“I want to thank everyone for their prayers for my confirmation on 15th July. It was a beautiful day with two baptisms (one a toddler and the other one of the confirmation candidates) and six confirmations. The church was overflowing, the singing magnificent and the Bishop inspired us all. Following we had a bring and share lunch in the church courtyard – as usual the food was abundant.
One other thing, Rev’d Deborah is on leave at the moment visiting friends and relatives in South Africa. We wish her well and pray she returns to us safely in a few more weeks.
Thank you to everyone, again. We, especially I, hold you in my prayers.
With peace, love and blessings, Edna”
Newly appointed Treasurer
Heather Savage – 07970 481686
Having listened to Jenny’s talks about ‘service’ since the new year, I began to pray to ask the Lord how He wanted me to serve Him. He kept giving me the answer, but I kept replying, ‘no – but seriously, how do you want me to serve you?’. He was persistent and clear, and I realised that he wasn’t joking. So here I am, your new Treasurer, ready to serve God and St Barnabas. Julie was an amazing Treasurer, and I will take time to play catch up, but with God’s and all of your help, I will be successful. (To reassure you, I am also a part-time Data Manager). In the meantime, if you would like to get involved as a counter, a Tap2Give machine switcher-on-er or other Finance related role, please get in contact!
Unwell, housebound or on holiday
Did you know that if you are unable to get to Church you can watch a Church of England service on line every Sunday from 9.00 am? You can do this on your phone, tablet, laptop or TV. Go to either the Church of England website or to YouTube and you will be directed to the service. Not having been able to get to church for the past two weeks I have found this a wonderful opportunity to join in worship with other Christians. Give it a go. Jenny Hope
Craft Pick and Mix Evenings

The July 11th one is postponed until October. On Friday 19th September 7-9pm the next Fun, Flowers & Fizz will take place with a Harvest Flowers theme. Only 18 places available! It will be followed by a practical opportunity to showcase your skills on Saturday 27th September, decorating the Church for Harvest Festival.
Secure your place via Heather (07970 481686), Gill, Kay or via the email crafts@stbarnabasbromborough.org.uk £5 for the evening to be paid on the night by cash or card.
Calling all elves… Santa needs a new suit!
Do any of our congregation (elves) have sewing experience?
One of our Tree Sponsors (Sew with Katy) would be happy to lead a special workshop with the elves to create and hand make Santa a special and beautiful new suit.
If this sounds like you, please contact Natalie (Friel) on 07950598466 or natalielouisefriel@yahoo.co.uk
Pastoral Visiting Team
I would like to set up a Pastoral visiting Team but currently only two people have expressed an interest. Volunteers would have some training with particular focus on issues of safeguarding. People will then be encouraged to visit in pairs and build relationships with a small number of individuals.
Naturally, one of your roles will to keep me updated about how people are. If you are interested in doing this work (it could be as much as one visit a month) then please let me know either via email, phone or by text. We will then gather people together to do some training and planning. Jenny
National Trust Vouchers in newspapers.
There are free visits to the National Trust vouchers in some newspapers this week.
A member of staff at Church House is looking to collect some for an eco anxiety project she hopes to hold at Dunham Massey Park. If you or anyone you know reads the Liverpool Echo, Manchester Evening News, Daily Express or Daily Mirror and won’t be using them, please will you give them to Julie Watts, who will take them in to Church house (where she too works). They have been there throughout the past week.
