Thank you

To everyone who worked at the summer fair, especially Lin, Barbara Phil, Alistair and the BVCA -well done. Your time and effort is precious and acknowledged. A special thank you from St Barnabas to Heather, Andy, Ian, Gill, Clive, Lesley, Julie, Jenny H and Sue who did a fantastic job making the church welcoming and raising £175 through donations and the small games. The kneelers on the book rests look amazing and are well worth a look. We will leave them like that for a few weeks so that people can see. If you were around in 1982, which one did you do?

Confirmation at St Barnabas Limassol

We pray today for their confirmation and for our sister Edna who worshipped with us while her sister here in Bromborough was dying.

Rectory Garden gates

Parishioners are welcome to cut through the rectory garden. However, please make sure that the gates at the start and end of the path are firmly closed. There have been a couple of times lately when one or other has been left open. It is an easy mistake to make – I have done it. Thanks for your help. Jenny

Link with St Barnabas Church Limassol

My grateful thanks to Dianne Dagnall who has agreed to be the link person for St Barnabas Limassol in Cyprus. Edna will send news to us through her (and me) and we can therefore add their life to our prayers as they add ours to their own. Links with other churches are important: it reminds us that we are not alone. It reminds us that faith looks different in different places but even so, we share in one Lord. In my experience, links add to who we are and make us stronger.

Pastoral Visiting Team

We thank Carol for her many years of making sure that everyone at home or unwell was regularly contacted and I was kept up to date about your well-being. Carol feels that currently this is not a role she can continue though she is pleased to still answer the phone on behalf of the parish. I have always appreciated her team working approach and trusted her judgement in terms of when to contact me and when not.

Moving forward, I would like to set up a Pastoral visiting Team. Volunteers would have some training with particular focus on issues of Safeguarding. People will then be encouraged to visit in pairs and build relationships with a small number of individuals. Naturally, one of your roles will to keep me updated about how people are. If you are interested in doing this work (it could be as much as one visit a month) then please let me know either via email, phone or by text. We will then gather people together to do some training and planning.

In the meantime, please may I remind you that only visits to people you know well and as an act of friendship should be undertaken. Apart from those who currently take Holy Communion, no one is encouraged to visit people you are not friends with in a way that someone might interpret as on behalf of St Barnabas.

Notice of funeral

Jean Horan’s memorial service will take place in St Barnabas Bromborough on Thursday 3rd June at 12 noon. Jean was a long serving faithful member of the parish and your support in this final act will be appreciated by her family and her life-long friend Wendy.

Barbaras Baxter’s friend Anne

…would like to thank everyone for their love and prayers. She is still in Walton Hospital but it appears that the problems were caused by a virus and not a bleed on the brain. Lots of healing still to do but thank you Jesus for bringing her safely to this point now.

Help needed on Tuesday 17th June at lunchtime.

Is anyone available to make tea and coffee for chapter on Tuesday?  It is needed for about 12.30 am. I am happy to clear away after so that you do not need to stay once it is served. Many thanks Jenny
